BTS’ J-Hope has been announced as a headliner for this year’s Lollapalooza event, which runs from July 28 to July 31 in Chicago’s Grant Park. On Sunday, July 31, J-Hope will finish out the event, becoming the first South Korean artist to headline the main stage at a major U.S. music festival.
Tomorrow x Together, a Korean pop group, has been added to the Lollapalooza roster for Saturday, July 30. This will be their first time performing in the United States.
In a statement, Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell stated, “I’m happy to welcome J-Hope and Tomorrow x Together into the Lollapalooza family.” “These artists have been given great gifts in communication. Their global audience speak different languages but possess an intense passion for their music. Lolla is the place where all music genres live in harmony. These are the superstars of the global phenomenon of K-Pop, and we are so excited to have them at this year’s festival.”
J-Hope joins a stellar lineup that includes Metallica, Dua Lipa, J. Cole, and Green Day, among others, as well as performances by Kygo, Big Sean, Jazmine Sullivan, Don Toliver, Charli XCX, Idles, Turnstile, and others. On its Twitter page, the festival also recently posted a complete schedule of events.
J-Hope and Tomorrow x Together’s additions come as Doja Cat has cancelled numerous summer festival appearances, including Lollapalooza and her tour with The Weeknd, owing to throat health issues. On May 20, the singer explained her absence on Twitter, stating that she would be undergoing tonsil surgery and would require time to recover.
Last year, Lollapalooza was held at Grant Park, and it was one of the first major festivals to reopen following the pandemic’s shutdowns.
