After it was announced that See’s third season would be its final one on Apple TV+, Jason Momoa’s Baba Voss fought his final battle.
The third and final episode of the post-apocalyptic drama series will premiere on August 26 and will air weekly thereafter.
Hundreds of years after humanity lost its vision, the world of See is a harsh and primal place. In season three, over a year has gone after Dave Bautista’s antagonistic brother Edo was defeated by Momoa’s character Baba Voss, who then left his family behind to live alone in the jungle. However, Baba returns to Paya in order to defend his people once more when a Trivantian scientist creates a new and terrifying form of sighted weaponry that puts the future of humanity in danger.
The fact that the third season of the show will be its last comes as no great surprise. After winding up production of the show’s two consecutive seasons in November, showrunner and executive producer Jonathan Tropper shared an emotional statement on social media. He stated on Instagram that “The journey, as always, is really about the people you come to know and love along the way.”
Sylvia Hoeks, Hera Hilmar, Christian Camargo, Archie Madekwe, Nesta Cooper, Tom Mison, Olivia Cheng, Eden Epstein, Michael Raymond-James, and David Hewlett will also appear in the third season along with new series regular Trieste Kelly Dunn (Blindspot, Banshee), who is represented by Innovative Artists and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
Chernin Entertainment and Endeavor Content are the companies behind the show, and Steven Knight, Francis Lawrence, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Jim Rowe, Jennifer Yale, Anders Engström, and Tropper are the executive producers.
The tech behemoth said in September that the second season of the drama series See had become its most watched comeback in the first two weeks following release. Naturally, the corporation did not include any actual data with this declaration.
The series has been recognised for its representation of the visually impaired and won the Ruderman Family Foundation Seal of Authentic Representation in 2020. Its cast and crew members are blind or have low vision.
Momoa won’t be leaving the streamer, though. His upcoming project, the limited series Chief of War, is already scheduled. The unification and colonisation of Hawaii are the main themes of the series, which Momoa and Thomas Pa’a Sibbett devised. The producers of See, Chernin Entertainment and Endeavor Content, have ordered the show straight to series.
“We are thrilled to share this epic final chapter of ‘See,’ which delivers all the intense drama, riveting action, and heartfelt emotion fans have come to expect, as well as what we think is a deeply satisfying conclusion to our story,” said Jonathan Tropper, who renewed his overall deal with the streamer earlier this year. “Building a world without sight was a particularly unique and continuous challenge that was met through the passionate and thoughtful collaboration of a phenomenally talented and diverse team both in front of and behind the camera. The show has been a monumental labor of love for all involved, and we are eternally grateful for the way See has been embraced by viewers around the world.”
