Goalkeeper Josh Cohen, who made his MLS debut against Los Angeles FC, made his MLS debut against Inter Miami FC. Cohen allowed just one goal against Miami but has a 5-1 record in six MLS and Next ProNext Pro appearances.
He started twice for Atlanta United 2 and twice for the Lamar Hunt Americas first team in the Open Cup. In each of these matches he recorded a clean sheet. His late heroics in the Open Cup round of 16 against the Charleston Battery advanced the Five Stripes to the quarterfinals.
The California goalkeeper made his MLS debut on Saturday, May 25 against LAFC after Brad Guzan received a red card. He allowed just two goals between his debut and starting in a star-studded Inter Miami team. Miami took a total of 13 shots, six of which were on goal. Cohen allowed just one goal to Lionel Messi.
Cohen signed in the offseason. Cohen recently played for Maccabi Haifa in the Israeli Premier League, where he won three consecutive league titles, was named the 2020-2021 Israeli Premier League Player of the Season, and has made six appearances in the 2022-2023 UEFA Champions League.
