Karl Urban Announces Final Season of ‘The Boys’ Will Release in 2026

Earlier this summer, Eric Kripke confirmed that The Boys would end with season 5. Karl Urban, who plays Billy Butcher, confirmed on Instagram that the final season would be released in two years, i.e. in 2026.

In a heartfelt post on his Instagram account, Urban expressed his joy at working with co-star Jeffrey Dean Morgan, writing, “Working with the illustrious @jeffreydeanmorgan was the best part of my day every day. That`s all @theboystv for now folks. See you in…2 years (wish it was sooner) for the final season on @primevideo.” The post included several behind-the-scenes photos of Urban alongside Morgan in the final season. In season four, Urban stars alongside lead cast members Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Cameron Crovetti. Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, Jessie T. Usher, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan join the cast in supporting roles this season.

The show was created by Kripke in 2019 and was a huge success on Prime Video. The show deviates from the original 2006 comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, making it unpredictable for fans. Kripke previously explained why he decided to end the show with season 5, saying, “Part of it is such a wonky stupid screenwriter thing but three and five are the big magical numbers for writing.” He added, “Three is movie acts, TV acts are five. Jokes are a runner of three for five. Five just seems like a good round number. It`s enough to tell the story but also bring it to a climax without wearing out its welcome. It’s been hard because I haven’t been able to tell everyone. I was thrilled to finally be able to get the word out there.”

Fans of The Boys will have to wait until 2026 for the finale.
