The Saints deleted the sting of its Week 10 destruction to the Falcons with a well deserved 26-18 triumph over Atlanta on Thanksgiving night to guarantee the NFC South title.
New Orleans (10-2) took its biggest lead of the game after Wil Lutz’s fourth field objective made the score 26-9. The Falcons (3-9) weren’t done, however.
Atlanta discovered its way into the end zone with a 13-yard touchdown go from Matt Ryan to Russell Gage.
The score gave the Falcons life after a whirlwind of void belongings and turnovers.
Following a fruitless 2-point transformation, Atlanta recouped an onside kick and walked into New Orleans region, setting up a 43-yard Younghoe Koo field objective to make it a one-ownership game with just shy of two minutes remaining.
Much more dramatization resulted. Koo got a neighborly bounce on another onside kick and the Falcons recouped, lighting the Mercedes-Benz Stadium swarm that had been held in line for the greater part of the night.
This time, however, the Saints had the appropriate response.
Ryan, who completed the night with two interferences and a lost bungle, was sacked for the ninth time on a sink or swim fourth-down endeavor from the Saints’ 44, fixing the New Orleans triumph.
