After a heated offering war, Hulu has handled the drama Black Cake, from Women of the Movement maker Marissa Jo Cerar, Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Films and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment with a series order.
In view of the impending book by Charmaine Wilkerson, Black Cake is a family show enclosed by a homicide secret with a different cast of characters and a worldwide setting. The story happens in Jamaica, Rome, Scotland, England and Southern California.
Cerar, who had a critical influence in assembling the project, will compose the variation as a component of her general arrangement with Kapital and will fill in as showrunner on the series, which traverses many years.
