The next chapter in Peter Parker’s cinematic journey is officially titled “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” with production set to begin this summer. Director Destin Daniel Cretton confirmed the timeline at CinemaCon, exciting fans eager for Spidey’s return.
Although Tom Holland wasn’t physically present at the Las Vegas event, he sent in a video message, teasing what’s in store for the upcoming film. “I truly sorry that we are unable to be together. I’m halfway across the world shooting a movie,” Holland said, referring to his role in Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” alongside Matt Damon, Zendaya, and Anne Hathaway. “Since “No Way Home” ended on a major cliffhanger, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” offers a new beginning. That’s all I can say.”
Holland, who has a reputation for unintentionally spoiling Marvel secrets, reassured fans that he wouldn’t slip up this time. “That’s all I’ve been allowed to say. And I’m well past the phase of giving away spoilers, so don’t worry. I won’t do that today,” he joked.
The previous installment, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (2021), ended with Peter Parker making a heartbreaking decision-erasing his identity from the world after breaking open the multiverse. While details about the new film remain under wraps, Cretton hinted at the creative team’s dedication to crafting an exciting new chapter.
“I’m spending my time exploring the next phase of this incredible character alongside some of the most talented artists in the industry,” he shared. “Every day, we’re geeking out about the suit, the web-swinging mechanics, and how to create an emotional, thrilling story unlike anything seen before.”
Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are expected to reprise their roles as MJ and Ned, respectively, while Sadie Sink has also joined the cast. While her character hasn’t been officially revealed, speculation is rife that she could portray Jean Grey, the X-Men mutant previously played by Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner. However, no official casting confirmations were made at the event.
Cretton took a moment to praise his hardworking team, expressing excitement for the film’s eventual release. “I wish I could introduce you to everyone behind this project. They’re putting in an incredible amount of effort, and I can’t wait for audiences to see their amazing work when ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.’”
The anticipation is high, especially considering the franchise’s massive box office success. “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (2017) earned $880 million, “Far From Home” (2019) crossed $1.13 billion, and “No Way Home” (2021) shattered expectations with $1.9 billion worldwide.
Holland concluded his message with appreciation for theater owners, acknowledging their role in Spidey’s success. “I’d never miss the chance to say a huge ‘thank you’ for all your support for our ‘Spider-Man’ films.”
