NBA’s Patrick Beverley Is Signing With Israeli Basketball Premier League

NBA veteran guard Patrick Beverley will sign with Hapoel Tel Aviv BC of the Israel Basketball Premier League, he announced on social media Tuesday afternoon.

Beverley, who turned 36 this week, posted on his X account this week that he was considering whether to sign a veteran NBA contract for the minimum or accept a contract overseas. He began his professional basketball career in Greece and Russia before spending the next 12 years in the NBA.

Beverley will start the 2023-24 season with Philadelphia, where he was traded to Milwaukee at the February deadline to reunite with coach Doc Rivers. Beverley appeared in 73 games last season, averaging 6.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 41.7% from the field (33.7% from the 3-point line).

He started all six of the Bucks’ playoff games before their first-round loss to the Indiana Pacers as Milwaukee struggled with injuries in the playoffs.

If Beverley were to return to the league, he would be serving a four-game suspension for repeatedly throwing the ball at Pacers fans during Game 6 of the Bucks’ first-round series loss.

Beverley has played for five different franchises since the start of the 2021-22 season and has not signed a multi-year contract since 2019.
