In anticipation of the likely debut of One UI 7, Samsung’s revamped Clock app has surfaced, showcasing a glimpse of the company’s refreshed design approach. The new version, Samsung Clock v12.4.00.8, was made available this week on APKMirror, reaching some users before the official release of the One UI 7 beta. Interestingly, this update can also be installed on devices running One UI 6, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
The update brings a subtle redesign to the Clock app’s user interface. While the overall appearance remains familiar, there’s now a bit more contrast and the bottom navigation bar features icons. However, the most noticeable changes are on the home screen, where Samsung’s new icon design for One UI 7 makes its presence felt. The Clock icon has been updated with a larger clockface and a colored hour hand, aligning with Samsung’s shift towards a more “textured” aesthetic.
Additionally, the widgets have undergone a significant overhaul. They now feature larger shapes with completely opaque backgrounds. The analog clock widget includes ticks for both hours and minutes, while the world clock widget has been redesigned into a single, dual-colored block, rather than the previously used two split shapes that could be resized together.
These changes are consistent with previously leaked information about One UI 7, which suggests Samsung is emphasizing rounded UI elements. Notably, the early app update hints that Samsung’s version of Apple’s “Dynamic Island” isn’t solely dependent on the app itself. Although leaks suggest the Clock app will utilize this new UI in One UI 7, it doesn’t function on One UI 6, instead showing a redesigned picture-in-picture menu next to the app icon.
The first beta update for One UI 7, based on Android 15, is anticipated to be released on July 29 for select devices and regions. However, Samsung has not yet officially announced this update.
