Based in London The CEO of Nothing, Carl Pei, has released a video on the company’s website revealing that the Nothing Phone 3, the company’s upcoming smartphone, will not be released in 2025 but rather next year. He also said that artificial intelligence (AI) will change smartphone use and that smartphones will be the AI gadgets of the future. He also called attention to the AI hype.
Pei reinforced Nothing’s commitment to the traditional smartphone design in the face of the increasing hype about AI.
AI has been the topic of a lot of hype. Some are very good, while others are unclear. It’s wonderful to see emerging businesses reconsidering form factors and user experience. For the foreseeable future, smartphones will undoubtedly continue to be the primary consumer AI form factor. Pei wrote on X, the former Twitter platform, “With over 4 billion users and over 1 billion smartphones shipped every year-the numbers speak for themselves.”
The London-based company has been creating and developing AI interfaces for the last two months. To provide a clearer image of the company’s goals, the CEO has now disclosed some early ideas. These features will be improved and rolled out gradually, starting with Phone 3 in 2025.
“Our priority is to perfect the product, seamlessly integrating hardware and AI to create a useful and enjoyable experience for users,” Pei stated in the post.
Rather than developing an entirely new AI-focused device, the Nothing Phone 3 would integrate AI capabilities into the well-known smartphone format.
Nothing indicates that the responses powered by AI will be customized to each user’s requirements. Additionally, Nothing debuted a new home screen interface with several square boxes that resemble gadgets and show relevant, dynamic information. The company claims that AI was used to curate this information.
We have been hard at work building our end-to-end capabilities over the past 3.5 years. Being the only company to launch a smartphone business in the previous ten years, we’ve gone a long way. Additionally, we’ve established a creative culture within the organization that prioritizes careful software-hardware integration and excellent user experience. And we’re prepared to change direction as we achieve stability and have sound growth plans,” Pei added.
