Ohio Ohio State’s next offensive coordinator will be longtime NFL coach Bill O’Brien, an Ohio State source confirmed.
O’Brien has expertise as an offensive coordinator, play-caller, and quarterbacks coach at the collegiate and professional levels. He most recently served as the offensive coordinator for the Patriots during the previous season.
After succeeding Joe Paterno as head coach at Penn State in 2012, he finished 15-9 in his first two seasons. After that, O’Brien led the Houston Texans as head coach for seven years in the National Football League.
On Friday, an official declaration about the hire is expected.
O’Brien now joins Matt Guerrieri, who took Perry Eliano’s place as safeties coach, as the second new member of Ohio State’s coaching staff for 2024.
