OpenAI releases a free ChatGPT app for iOS

ChatGPT is becoming even simpler to access for many thanks to OpenAI.

OpenAI announced on Thursday that a free ChatGPT app for iOS users in the United States will soon be available in additional nations.

The send off comes a half year after OpenAI initially delivered ChatGPT online to people in general. In response to user prompts, the release sparked a new AI arms race in the tech industry to create and implement tools that can generate compelling written work and images.

Additionally, it comes in the same week that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman testified in front of Congress about the dangers that AI could pose to society. He referred to the current boom in the technology as a potential “printing press moment,” but he cautioned that precautions were necessary.

The new ChatGPT application has similar capacities as the web rendition of the viral chatbot instrument, and could assist with expanding on its prominence. Users of the app will also be able to use their phone’s microphone to send voice prompts instead of typing them. Additionally, users can sync their history between devices.

Access to GPT-4 capabilities, the next-generation version of the tool’s technology, is one of the additional benefits that ChatGPT Plus subscribers will receive on the application for a monthly subscription fee of $20.

According to the report, OpenAI intends to launch an Android version next.
