After teasing its AI capabilities, OPPO today confirmed that the OPPO Reno12 5G series – Reno12 5G and Reno12 Pro 5G will launch in India on July 12, 2024.
The Reno12 Series, your “Your Everyday AI Companion,” is designed to enhance user experience with powerful AI capabilities, rugged durability, and elegant aesthetics, the company said.
Display
The Reno12 Series features a Quad Micro-Curved Infinite View screen with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the Pro variant and Gorilla Glass 7i on the base model.
Both models feature a 6.7″ FHD+ 120Hz flexible AMOLED display with 43° Quad-Micro curve, narrow 1.69mm side bezels, and a leading 93.5% screen-to-body ratio. The 10-bit panel displays 1.07 billion colors, ensuring smoother and more realistic color transitions with up to 1200 nits HDR brightness even in bright outdoor conditions.
Durability
The series features sponge-inspired all-round armored protection for increased resistance against drops and shocks. A high-strength alloy framework of metals including copper, magnesium and silicon ensures a robust, corrosion-resistant construction that meets aerospace quality standards.
Both devices are IP65 certified for dust and water resistance and feature reinforced components such as speakers, USB-C port and SIM card tray. The Reno12 Pro is tested by SGS for Premium Performance 5-star multi-scene protection, including water resistance and shock resistance.
Meanwhile, the Reno12 features SGS Performance 5-Star Multi-Scene Performance, including a flicker-free screen that reduces blue light and prevents eye fatigue.
The Reno12 Pro 5G will be launched in India in Sunset Gold and Space Brown, featuring a dual-textured back made from Asahi Dragontrail and Panda Glass. The top half features smudge-resistant OPPO Glow technology, while the glossy area on the bottom is defined by a smooth OPPO-branded band.
The Reno12 will be available in three colors: Sunset Peach, Matte Brown, and Astro Silver. The Astro Silver color combines OPPO’s Fluid Ripple Texture to create the illusion of liquid on a smooth surface. Meanwhile, Sunset Peach’s graphic liquid crystal process creates a fresh interpretation of the 2024 Color of the Year. For a more classic look, Matte Brown offers rich cocoa tones and a fingerprint-free finish.
Processor and Battery Life
The Reno12 series is powered by the advanced 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy SoC with MediaTek APU 655 for AI performance, enabling features such as AI Clear Face, AI Writer, AI Recording Summary, and AI Eraser 2.0.
Both models feature a high-capacity 5000mAh battery with 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging, which can charge from 0% to 100% in just 46 minutes. The series promises a 4-year battery life, making it a reliable choice for long-term use.
Camera
The Reno12 series features AI-based camera capabilities. The Pro comes with a 50MP camera with Sony’s LYT-600 sensor and optical image stabilisation (OIS), as well as a 50MP telephoto camera with Samsung’s JN5 sensor, offering 2x portrait zoom and up to 20x digital zoom. There’s also an 8MP IMX 355 ultra-wide-angle camera with a 112° field of view (FOV). For selfies, the Reno12 Pro comes with a 50MP JN5 sensor with autofocus and a 90° field of view.
The Reno12 replaces the Pro’s telephoto camera with a 2MP OV02B10 macro camera that can shoot from just 4cm away, and a 32MP GalaxyCore GC32E2 sensor for front-facing selfies.
The front camera has facial recognition, individually adjusting up to 296 parameters that define the human face to ensure a natural look in every shot. OPPO’s Tone Mapping Control algorithm adjusts brightness and color representation for different scenarios and skin tones, resulting in accurate, realistic images.
Improved Connectivity and User Experience
The Reno12 series leverages OPPO’s exclusive AI LinkBoost technology to reduce network latency by up to 25% and optimize signal recovery in demanding environments.
The phone ensures lag-free voice communication with VoWiFi and smarter network selection with Dual SIM support. Certified by TÜV Rheinland for high network performance, the Reno12 series ensures excellent connectivity.
The OPPO Reno12 series will be available on Flipkart, OPPO India online store and offline stores after launch, and pricing should be known when it officially goes on sale next week.
