Beginning at $399, Google introduces its new Chromebook Plus range, a collection of laptops with AI-powered capabilities and unique hardware specifications that are intended to increase productivity.
The Chromebook Plus is a brand-new category of Chromebooks that Google has introduced. These laptops have certain hardware requirements and are made to increase productivity. Acer, Asus, HP, and Lenovo are the manufacturers of Chromebook Plus machines, which have beginning prices of $399.
For the Chromebook Plus to operate at its best while running productivity apps and AI-powered capabilities, Google has set minimum hardware requirements. A processor with an Intel Core i3 12th Gen or higher, or an AMD Ryzen 3 7000 series or higher, is required for these specs. The device must also feature a minimum of 8GB of RAM, 128GB or more of storage, a webcam with a minimum resolution of 1080p with Temporal Noise Reduction, and a premium Full HD IPS display. These requirements have the goal to improve the Chromebook Plus’s general usability and capacity.
Updates for Google Photos
On Chromebook Plus, Google Photos is receiving a number of improvements, including Magic Eraser for object removal, HDR, portrait blur, and automatically creating videos from still images and videos. Although some of these capabilities might work with other Chromebooks, Google has said that they would initially only be available on Plus models.
Subscriptions and Partnerships
Software like Photoshop, Adobe Express, and LumaFusion are available thanks to a partnership with Google, Adobe, and LumaTouch. Three months of Photoshop and Express subscriptions are free for new Chromebook Plus buyers. Additionally, a three-month trial of Nvidia’s GeForce NOW Priority premium cloud gaming service will be included with every new Chromebook Plus device.
Upcoming Features Powered by AI
Google will add AI-powered capabilities to Chromebook Plus in accordance with its AI integration goal, including a writing assistant that can function on multiple websites. A previously disclosed capability for Android will also be available, allowing users to create AI-generated wallpapers based on prompts.
Updates to Software
Google has expanded the list of Chromebooks eligible for its 10-year software update guarantee to include older models that fit the Chromebook Plus description. This guarantees Chromebook users’ long-term viability and ongoing support.
The initial release of $399 Chromebook Plus laptops will be released by Asus, Acer, HP, and Lenovo. Starting on October 8, these devices will be sold in clamshell and detachable two-in-one form factors. Customers in Europe and Canada can order Chromebook Plus devices the next day.
