Samsung wants to assure you that their foldables aren’t a flop. According to a recent blog post, the company sold four times as many foldable gadgets in 2021 as it did in 2020. It attributes this achievement to the release of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, which people praised for their enhanced designs and cheaper pricing in our own reviews as a step toward mass usage. Samsung claims that sales of these two gadgets eclipsed “total accumulative sales of Samsung foldable devices in 2020” in their first month.
These are encouraging numbers for the steady rise of foldable phones, however keep in mind that Samsung isn’t disclosing precise sales figures. Instead, it emphasised that its increases were higher than predictions given by third-party analysts, who predicted that total shipments of foldable devices from all manufacturers would reach 9 million in 2021.
Users can estimate that Samsung’s sales were in the high single digit millions or pushing into the low tens of millions if the business thinks this data is valuable enough to cite. Samsung is thought to account for roughly 88 percent of the entire foldable markets.
By 2023, these figures are predicted to have risen tenfold, with Samsung gaining a lesser share of the market as competitors such as Oppo and Huawei join the foldable fun. Some foresee a foldable iPhone for 2023, which would significantly boost the segment.
