Sony has announced limited edition PSOne-style consoles for the PlayStation 5, PS5 Pro and more as part of its 30th anniversary collection.
The collection was shown off in a PlayStation video (see below), which also revealed limited editions for the DualSense, DualSense Edge and PlayStation Portal. Pre-orders for all products will open on September 26th, with launch on November 21st.
The PS5 Pro bundle is perhaps the most limited edition, with only 12,300 units available worldwide. The package includes the PS5 Pro console, a vertical stand, a charging dock, and a DualSense Edge controller and case, all in classic PlayStation style. Also included is a cable connector in the style of the original PlayStation controller, four cable ties in the style of sacred symbols, a sticker, a poster, and a paper clip.
The other console available is the PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition, but it comes with a matching drive cover for those who want to use discs with their retro-style console (though the drive must be purchased separately). The package also includes the regular DualSense controller, a vertical stand and cable connector in the style of the original PlayStation controller, four cable ties in the style of sacred symbols, a sticker, a poster, and a paper clip.
Sony hasn’t announced prices for the items in the collection, but fans on a budget will be relieved to know that the DualSense controller will be available separately along with the DualSense Edge.
According to the PlayStation Blog, preorders will open on September 26 for PlayStation Network account holders via PlayStation Direct. Pre-orders for the DualSense controller will begin at participating retailers on September 26, and for the PS5 Digital Edition on October 10. If you’d like to pre-order in a country where PlayStation Direct isn’t available, you can do so at participating retailers on September 26.
