Sony declared that the Airpeak S1 camera drone would no longer be available for purchase. The product will no longer be sold after March 31, 2025.
Next year, Sony will also discontinue sales of the majority of the drone’s accessories; however, propellers and batteries can still be purchased until March 31, 2026. Up to March 31, 2030, inspections, fixes, and software upkeep will continue.
In 2021, the Airpeak S1 made its debut in a virtual presentation at CES. The drone was designed to use Sony’s full-frame mirrorless interchangeable-lens Alpha cameras to record HD video. With a camera attached, it could fly for 12 minutes and reach a maximum speed of 55.9 mph. Even without attachments, the expensive drone would cost roughly $9,000, yet reviews ranged from mediocre to completely unfavorable.
