There will be a second season of “Squid Game: The Challenge,” so start rehearsing your Red Light, Green Light.
Ahead of the Season 1 finale, in which one winner will take home $4.56 million, Netflix renewed the reality series on Wednesday morning. Three contestants remain after 453 have been removed following nine episodes of suspenseful games, formed and broken alliances, and startling betrayals: Mai, who is Player 287; Phil, Player 451; and Sam, Player 016.
According to a statement from Netflix Vice President of Nonfiction Series Brandon Riegg, “There was no red light in our decision to greenlight Season 2 of ‘Squid Game: The Challenge,’ the most ambitious unscripted show we’ve premiered at Netflix.” “We’re so excited to continue the franchise of ‘Squid Game’ with our team in Korea, and producers at Studio Lambert and The Garden for this epic competition series.”
This Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, Netflix will premiere the Season 1 finale. For the previous two weeks, the programme ranked first among Netflix’s Top 10 English-language shows. In its first week, it received 20.5 million views, and in its second, 11.4 million. At SquidGameCasting.com, casting is now being accepted for Season 2 of “Squid Game: The Challenge.”
After debuting in September 2021, the primary “Squid Game” series received 1.65 billion watch hours, making it the most popular Netflix show ever. The second season has been renewed, and Hwang Dong-hyuk is the creator.
A co-production between ITV Studios’ Studio Lambert (“The Circle”) and The Garden (“24 Hours in A&E”) is “Squid Game: The Challenge.” Nicola Brown (The Garden), John Hay (The Garden), Toni Ireland (Studio Lambert), Anna Kidd, Stephen Lambert (Studio Lambert), Nia Yemoh (Studio Lambert), and Stephen Yemoh (Studio Lambert) are among the executive producers.
