Taco Bell is granting fans’ long-standing wish by bringing back Double Decker Tacos. Following the Enchirito’s win in a poll to determine the returning item for 2022, the popular offering that was expected to make a comeback to the chain’s menu last year did not. Nevertheless, the beloved item returned to the shelves on December 5.
For a brief period, the Double Decker Tacos will be available in retailers. The recurring favourite, which costs more than $2.99, can be bought for pickup and delivery at the closest Taco Bell location or online.
In a press statement on December 5, the California-based restaurant revealed the return of the crowd favourite. Chief Marketing Officer Taylor Montgomery quoted:
“The Double Decker Taco holds a deep space in the hearts of our Taco Bell Fans. The insane amount of love for this product from fans across our social platforms was impossible to ignore.”
Focusing on the love customers have for the returning favorite, Montgomery added:
“The sentiment was particularly strong following last year’s spirited face-off with the Enchirito. We listened to what our fans wanted from us and knew we couldn’t deny them the joy of the Double Decker Taco any longer.”
Everything you should know about the Double Decker Taco from Taco Bell
Even though it didn’t win the return poll the previous year, Taco Bell’s much-anticipated Double Decker Taco is back on the menu. The loaded item made its debut on the chain’s menu in 1995 and was made permanent in 2006. The taco was taken off the menu in 2019 after dominating it for more than ten years.
Ever since, devoted customers have been pleading with the business to reinstate Double Decker Tacos, even if it’s just for a little period of time. As a result, the highly anticipated dish is now available again as a holiday special on the menu.
The Double Decker Tacos have a flour tortilla directly underneath a crispy taco shell that is resting on a bed of refried beans. The loaded taco, which is stuffed with flavorful, seasoned meat, shredded iceberg lettuce, and Cheddar cheese, is a substantial meal on its own.
As if the much awaited item’s return wasn’t enough, the chain is also launching some thrilling one-time offers and discounts, such as:
- Uber One BOGO offer: When two or more Double Decker Tacos are ordered, all Uber One subscribers will receive one free of charge. December 5 to December 12 is when the deal is available.
- DashPass Offer: Customers who place orders with DashPass between December 5 and December 12 will receive a discount of more than $8 on purchases totaling $25 or more.
- DoorDash Offer: During the period of December 5 through December 12, all regular DoorDash members will receive a $5 discount on all orders totaling $25 or more placed through the website.
The Double Decker Tacos, which cost more than $2.99, are available at all participating restaurants around the country, as was previously announced. The Double Decker Taco Supreme option, a fan favourite, is also available for those seeking something more, costing more than $3.69.
