Murugappa Group-owned TCI Clean Mobility subsidiary, TIVOLT Electric Vehicles, announced on Wednesday its partnership with Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) to establish a comprehensive charging ecosystem for its electric commercial vehicles. This collaboration is set to bolster the development and adoption of sustainable transportation solutions across India.
According to a statement, Tata Power Renewable Energy will leverage its vast expertise in creating and managing extensive EV charging infrastructure to support TIVOLT. The planned network will include installations at TIVOLT dealerships, customer premises, and strategic high-traffic public areas nationwide. The initiative aims to ensure seamless and efficient access to charging facilities for TIVOLT’s electric trucks and commercial vehicles.
Saju Nair, CEO of TIVOLT Electric Vehicles, described the partnership as a significant milestone in advancing electric mobility. This strategic alliance will speed up the expansion of charging infrastructure and boost the adoption of EVs. It represents a crucial step in strengthening the EV ecosystem for e-trucks with accessible, reliable charging solutions,” he said.
In order to power TIVOLT’s dealerships and customer facilities, TPREL also plans to investigate incorporating solar energy systems into the project. This approach aligns with the shared commitment to driving renewable energy utilization and achieving sustainable operations.
Deepesh Nanda, CEO and MD of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, highlighted the importance of a well-connected charging network in advancing India’s energy transition. “An efficient and well-integrated EV ecosystem will significantly accelerate the adoption of commercial electric vehicles and steer the nation toward a more sustainable and energy-conscious future,” he stated.
TPREL has already made strides in the EV sector, partnering with various original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to deploy over 200 customized EV charging stations in more than 100 cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. Its EZ Charge brand has expanded to over 1,00,000 home chargers, 6,500 public and semi-public charging points, and 1,100 bus charging stations across 530 cities and towns, cementing its leadership in EV infrastructure development.
