While performing in Pittsburgh on Saturday, Taylor Swift reached an impressive milestone as she continues her epic Eras Tour.
According to the venue, the concert that the singer of “Karma” performed at Pittsburgh’s Acrisure Stadium on Saturday drew 73,117 Swifites, which set a new attendance record. The stadium had its largest ever audience thanks to this impressive statistic.
Garth Brooks held the previous record, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, with a crowd of 72,887 in 2019.
In a Sunday Instagram post, the Pennsylvania native paid tribute to the Pittsburgh crowd.
Pittsburgh, I’d like to express my gratitude for making me feel so at home in my home state. I mean, we got to be the first tour to play your stadium twice, and you broke the all-time attendance record,” she said.
“To all the dads but especially mine who is one of my best friends, helped meticulously glue every teeny tiny crystal onto my guitar and still never misses a show,” Swift continued, expressing gratitude to the “mesmerizing” crowd and wishing them a happy Father’s Day.
According to concertgoers who posted social media videos of the performance, Swift brought out The National frontman Aaron Dessner to perform her surprise song “Seven” from the 2020 “Folklore” album that the two of them collaborated on. This made Saturday night’s concert even more special.
It was the first time Swift had performed “Seven” in front of a live audience, with lyrics that pay tribute to her home state. She also gave the concert’s second surprise song, “The Story of Us,” from her album “Speak Now.”
