Tesla is gearing up for the highly anticipated unveiling of its Robotaxi at a special event set to take place this week in Southern California. Invitations have already been sent out, with Tesla emailing tickets for the “We, Robot” event on Tuesday to various recipients, including Teslarati. The event will be hosted at the Warner Brothers studio in Burbank, and attendees were given the option to download their tickets in preparation for the event, which will begin at 7:00 p.m. Pacific Time on Thursday.
Teslarati, among others, received their invitation to RSVP for the event on September 25, with a deadline to confirm by October 6. Shortly after, Tesla also launched a referral raffle, offering a chance for some to secure tickets to this exclusive event.
Originally, the Robotaxi was expected to debut in August, but the unveiling was postponed to October 10 after CEO Elon Musk requested a significant design modification to the vehicle’s front. The delay also provided Tesla with the opportunity to showcase other innovations beyond just the Robotaxi platform.
In recent weeks, sightings of possible Robotaxi prototypes around the Warner Brothers studio have fueled speculation, as have reports of increased data collection in the surrounding areas of Los Angeles and San Francisco.
As excitement builds for the event, predictions about what Tesla will reveal vary widely. Some analysts believe the event could include multiple new vehicle platform unveilings, a ride-hailing app launch, or even a glimpse of Unsupervised Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology. Others, like Gene Munster and Brian Baker of Deepwater, suggest Tesla could unveil three new platforms: a Robotaxi without a steering wheel, an affordable future model, and an autonomous Cybervan. Meanwhile, others remain more reserved, with Canaccord expressing moderate expectations and Guggenheim doubting the immediate announcement of a clear path to Robotaxi commercialization.
With such a range of possibilities, Thursday’s event is shaping up to be a significant moment for Tesla, though exactly what will be unveiled remains to be seen.
