Neeraj Chopra wrapped up his 2024 season with a second-place finish at the Brussels Diamond League, falling just 1 centimeter short of the top spot. This result reflected the nature of his season, marked by both challenges and learning experiences. On Sunday, Neeraj shared a social media post where he revealed that he had competed in Brussels despite suffering from a fractured hand. Although the season didn’t unfold exactly as planned, Neeraj expressed gratitude for the lessons he gained and the unwavering support from his fans.
As Neeraj now turns his focus to preparing for the next season, shooter Manu Bhaker, who also competed with him at the Paris Olympics, shared an encouraging message for the javelin thrower. She praised Neeraj for his accomplishments in 2024 and wished him a swift recovery from his injury.
“Congratulations @Neeraj_chopra1 on an amazing 2024 season. Wishing you a speedy recovery and even more success in the years ahead,” Manu wrote in response to Neeraj’s heartfelt post.
In his post, Neeraj reflected on the ups and downs of the year, stating: “As my 2024 season comes to an end, I look back at all the lessons I’ve learned-about growth, challenges, mindset, and much more. On Monday, I sustained a hand injury during practice, and x-rays confirmed I had fractured the fourth metacarpal in my left hand. It was a tough obstacle, but with the support of my team, I was still able to compete in Brussels. Although I didn’t meet my personal goals, I gained valuable insights this season. I’m determined to come back stronger and fully fit. Thank you all for your continued support. 2024 has shaped me as both an athlete and a person. I’ll see you all in 2025. Jai Hind!”
While Neeraj is yet to break the elusive 90-meter barrier in javelin, he remains focused on achieving this milestone in the upcoming 2025 season.
