Prior to the official presentation of the all-electric sedan this summer, BMW USA has released some preliminary information about the 2025 model year i4 EV. Redesigned front fascia, new exterior color positions, and digitally changed interior with sportier textiles are among the updates.
The BMW i4 made its debut as a 2022 model-year sedan, which we at Electrek had the opportunity to test drive several times and generally had positive experiences with. Although it has been updated with reduced specs to make it one of the German automaker’s most economical models, it is not the most powerful or flashiest of the BMW “i” series of BEVs.
Actually, BMW’s most economical EV lease choice is the i4 model that was available before today’s arrival of the 2025 model. BMW debuted the xDrive40, a new 2024 i4 version that sits between the dual-motor i4 M50 and the single-motor i4 eDrive40, last summer.
BMW USA has started to tease the 2025 i4 vehicles, which will include a revised M50 xDrive.
According to BMW USA, the i4 BEV models for the 2025 model year have undergone both internal and external visual modifications. The vertical kidney grille and narrow headlights of the sedan have been updated, according to the German automaker. When the drive approaches within ten feet, the former observes adaptive single LED modules that produce a “Welcome Light” animation.
The latter receives a new matte chrome treatment, and to better display its high-gloss black finish, its upper half has been totally wrapped (as seen above). A lower diffuser in the rear bumper, painted in high-gloss black to match the air intakes on the front fascia, is now part of the 2025 BMW i4 M Sport package. In earlier i4 models, Cerium Grey was one of the elements.
As adjustable choices, two new exterior colors have been added: Vegas Red metallic and Cape York Green metallic. Customers of the 2025 BMW i4 will also have a choice of new alloy wheel options, such as the 19-inch M Aero bi-color wheels that come with the M Sport package.
BMW stated that it concentrated on offering digitization and “a sharper sporting profile” in the 2025 i4. More options, like as climate control and seat/steering wheel heating, may be accessed via touch on the sedan’s center display. A new QuickSelect feature in iDrive also minimizes the number of physical buttons in the cockpit.
The new electric vehicles will be equipped with the BMW Operating System 8.5, which will allow for more comprehensive access to the My BMW App and enhanced cloud-based BMW Maps navigation. The 2025 i4’s performance enhancements and the launch prices of its variations are two things that are missing from BMW’s news release.
Pricing, according to the company, will be revealed shortly before the 2025 i4’s formal introduction in July 2024. The BEVs are still being produced close to BMW’s Munich, Germany, headquarters. While we wait for further information, have a look at the European version of the i4.
