Brave revealed on Wednesday that it will be making its AI assistant, Leo, available to iPad and iPhone users. Asking questions, summarizing pages, creating content, and more are all made possible with the AI assistant. The AI assistant’s Android and desktop launches are followed by the iOS release.
Voice-to-text functionality is a new feature added to Leo’s iOS release; this feature is not present in Leo’s Android version. Users no longer need to type out queries or questions because of this function, which allows them to speak aloud and have it transformed to text. According to Brave, interacting with the AI is made simpler by this extra feature.
Leo has the ability to translate or rewrite pages, provide long-form written reports, produce code, translate or summarize pages or videos, and answer questions about the stuff it reads. Brave hopes that by providing access to a built-in AI assistant, customers will be discouraged from using ChatGPT or other such services.
Leo gives you access to Llama 2 13B from Meta, Claude Instant from Anthropic, and Mixtral 8x7B. Mixtral 8x7B is the default LLM for Leo established by Brave; however, users can choose another LLM or purchase to Leo Premium for $14.99 per month to access greater rate limitations.
Opera also introduced an AI assistant last year, named Aria, so Brave is not the only browser maker to do so. With an interface similar to a chatbot that allows users to ask questions and get prompt answers, the product was developed in partnership with OpenAI.
After updating to version 1.63, all iOS users can now access Brave Leo. Launch the browser, type anything into the address bar to get to Leo, and then choose “Ask Leo.” Leo is a feature that is optional and may be turned off in the app’s settings.
