The Hindi version of Salaar: Ceasefire, starring Prabhas, also made a big impression on digital platform after Box Office

Prabhas’ Salaar Part 1 – Ceasefire emerged as one of the most significant Indian box office successes of 2023, and its triumph has extended to the OTT platform Disney Plus Hotstar, where the Hindi-dubbed version has garnered impressive attention. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the Hindi edition of Salaar was acquired by Hotstar, while the other versions were available on Netflix. After its digital release on February 16, 2024, the Hindi version of the film has remained in the top 10 on Hotstar for over 300 days, setting a remarkable record as the first film to achieve such sustained success. While precise viewership numbers have not been disclosed, it is evident that Salaar holds the title of the most-watched Indian film on the platform, fueling excitement for its highly anticipated sequel, slated for release in 2026.

Produced by Hombale Films, the studio behind several other Prabhas films, including Salaar 2, the Hindi version’s success both at the box office and on streaming platforms strengthens the studio’s position to create even bigger and more ambitious plans for the sequel. The film’s positive reception mirrors the immense popularity of KGF: Chapter 2, with the makers promising a similarly grand scale for the next installment.

The action-packed film features Prabhas as Deva, the lead character, alongside an impressive cast that includes Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Bobby Simha, and Sriya Reddy in crucial roles. Set in the fictional, dystopian city-state of Khansaar, where a monarchy still reigns, Salaar chronicles the journey of Deva, an exiled prince, and his intricate bond with Varadha (played by Prithviraj Sukumaran), the reigning prince of Khansaar. The film’s storyline follows a coup led by Varadha’s family and ministers, pushing him to seek Deva’s help to solidify his position and claim the title of Khansaar’s uncontested ruler.
