Google announced that the Google Meet video call resolution is currently being upgraded from 720p to 1080p. With this, users will be able to use the Google Meet application for HD video calls. Over the past few months, Google Meet has received numerous new features.
In particular, Google Meet received in-call emoji responses and 360-degree backgrounds in February. In addition, it recently included the capability of preventing or turning off the video feeds of other participants, allowing the presenter to concentrate on what they have to say. Presently, Google Meet is getting one more element that is intended to improve your calling experience in 1080p HD goal.
However, keep in mind that personal and regular Google accounts are not eligible for this upgrade from 720p to 1080p. This feature is primarily intended for Business and Enterprise users and will only be available to Google One subscribers with 2TB or more of storage space.
To utilize the element, you want to have a gadget that accompanies a 1080p camera. To take advantage of HD video calling, you will need to manually turn on the feature, which will be disabled by default. Clients will get an on-screen message to turn on the element when they enter a gathering.
Workspace Essentials, Business Starter, Education Fundamentals, and other accounts do not have access to the feature. You should look at the announcement here for a precise list. Google Meet now joins Microsoft Teams and Zoom, which, incidentally, also do not default to 1080p video calls. Through May 4, the feature will be gradually made available to all users.
