Industry sources claim that on January 14, Samsung Electronics will unveil the Galaxy S24 series at Galaxy Unpacked 2024, the company’s first-half product launch event. The event is set for 10 a.m. (local time) on January 17 (3 a.m. Korean Standard Time on January 18) in San Jose, California, in the United States.
The presence of Galaxy AI is the most notable feature of the Galaxy S24 series, as hinted by Samsung Electronics. The mobile AI experience from Samsung Electronics is now marketed under the new name Galaxy AI. “Galaxy AI is coming” is a significant tagline that the firm has used in its Unpacked promotional campaign.
Real-time call translation is one of Galaxy AI’s publicly announced features. With the use of this function, people can speak naturally in their local tongue with foreigners because AI will translate in real time to the other person’s language.
The service of call translation is not new. Real-time phone translation is already available from SK Telecom using “AI a.dot Interpretation Call.” However, because it depends on SK telecom servers, the a.dot Interpretation Call cannot be used outside. On the other hand, call translation is possible anywhere thanks to Galaxy AI, which runs entirely within the gadget.
Samsung Electronics has not yet revealed any further Galaxy AI features. But since the operating system known as “One UI6.1,” which is anticipated to run on the Galaxy S24 series, leaked, a number of rumors have surfaced.
It is expected that the Galaxy S24 would have a 150x zoom camera with Galaxy AI. AI is predicted to improve image quality by means of digital zoom that is rectified by software. A teaser video with the caption “Zoom with Galaxy AI is coming” can be found on the US Samsung website, lending credence to this theory.
It is anticipated that Galaxy AI would be utilized in functions for editing photos and videos. Photographs will have their backgrounds automatically filled in, enabling the subject to be organically moved to a different location or the photo’s edges to expand beyond their original boundaries. AI-generated backgrounds, note-taking notes that automatically complete bullet points, and battery life management are among the other features that are planned.
With the Galaxy S24, Samsung Electronics hopes to dominate the AI phone industry. From the application processor (AP), which functions as the smartphone’s brain, to the AI model that evaluates AI performance, the organization is fully equipped.
The AP will mix Samsung Electronics’ Exynos 2400 and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 depending on the model and release location. The first chip from Qualcomm created especially for generative AI is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Compared to its predecessor, the Exynos 2400 promises a 1.7-times increase in central processing unit (CPU) performance and a 15-times increase in artificial intelligence (AI) capability. It is thought that Samsung Electronics has reinforced its confidence by bringing Exynos back to the Galaxy S series after a two-year absence.
