The Galaxy S25 Ultra won’t be released until 2025 because Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra won’t be unveiled until the first quarter of 2024. However, there may already be a cause for us to be interested in the rumored flagship phone.
The large numbers game has traditionally been Samsung’s forte. For instance, its top-of-the-line Galaxy S23 Ultra has a 200-megapixel camera. However, a recent leak indicates that the corporation is working diligently on camera sensors that go far beyond. Additionally, it may reach 440 megapixels. Could the Galaxy S25 Ultra incorporate that camera?
Many pixels available
Yes, it’s possible, but as of right now, there’s no guarantee.
All of this is in accordance with a few articles from X leaker Revegnus, who revealed that Samsung is developing three new camera sensors. A new 440-megapixel sensor known as HU1 is among those sensors, along with new 50- and 200-megapixel ones.
All three cameras are rumored to be in development, but the leaker recently clarified the situation by saying that two of those cameras are unlikely to be released, at least not in Samsung phones. They claim that the HP7 200-megapixel sensor, which was initially planned for a Galaxy S25 Ultra release, has already been scrapped. We are informed that “manufacturers in the Greater China region” are likely to use the 50-megapixel sensor. The 440-megapixel sensor, though? That isn’t apparent.
The alleged HU1 camera sensor was not described by the leaker, which may imply that it would be included in the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s hardware for taking photos. But does Samsung abandoning the HP7 sensor apparently due to cost concerns actually increase the likelihood that the 440-megapixel portion will be used?
The good thing is that Samsung can’t help but have their phones leak months before they go on sale, so it’s probable that as time goes on, we’ll learn more about the cameras in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. We do, however, know that a 440-megapixel phone camera may be very interesting.
