TikTok is gaining a lot of traction on television screens. After debuting on Amazon’s Fire TV platform in North America, the TikTok TV software is now accessible on Samsung and LG smart TVs, as well as Android TV devices like the Chromecast with Google TV.
TikTok says its big-screen software is tailored for “a TV home-viewing experience, making it easy to watch content from our For You and Following feeds on the big screen,” whereas the enormously popular mobile app is designed for “little bursts of joy.” This includes the most liked and viewed videos across a huge range of categories, from gaming and comedy to food and animals.” In the TV app, there’s also a Discover section. Videos on TikTok can be up to three minutes long.
TikTok has been offered on Samsung TVs and Fire TV in the UK since 2020, outside of North America. In September, the app topped 1 billion monthly active users, and it apparently eclipsed YouTube in terms of average watch time in the United States on Android.
On the largest, finest screen in your house, you can now immerse yourself in the ByteDance-owned company’s much-celebrated algorithm.
