LEO, the latest film from Thalapathy Vijay, is grossing enormous sums on its opening day in the USA. LEO made a significant jump to take the top spot among all Kollywood films released in the USA on Thursdays with Wednesday premieres, and it currently holds the second spot among the top five films with Thursday and Friday releases.
Releases on Thursday Only:
- Day 1 of Leo, including Wednesday premieres, was worth $2,455,952.
- Thursday, including Wednesday Premieres, is Jailer Day 1 and will cost $1,569,590.
The fact that LEO Day brought in $2.5 million is an enormous feat, and trade analysts believe the record will last till Lokesh Kanagaraj releases Vikram 2 or his subsequent film starring Thalaivar Rajinikanth. Rajini’s Jailer was kept at a safe distance by Lokesh and Vijay’s LEO thanks to Thursday releases in movies!
Regarding Thursday and Friday releases, Rajinikanth’s Kabali continues to lead with $2.7 million, and LEO is just about there. Mani Ratnam’s PS1 comes in second on the list with $2.1 million, followed by PS2 with $1.7 million. The jailer is ranked fifth overall.
