Meta is reportedly working on a new feature designed to improve the personalization of Meta AI on WhatsApp, enabling it to better adapt to the preferences of individual users. According to information revealed by WABetainfo, a tracker that follows updates to WhatsApp, the feature, called chat memory, was spotted in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android 2.24.22.9, available via the Google Play Store. Although the feature is still in the developmental phase, it is expected to be officially released in a future update.
The chat memory feature will allow Meta AI to automatically store and remember key details shared during interactions with users. This means that, over time, Meta AI will be able to provide more customized and personalized responses based on the specific preferences, likes, and conversational styles of each user. For instance, the AI will be capable of recalling personal details such as favorite food, hobbies, or even the user’s unique way of communicating. This stored information will then be used to generate responses that are better suited to the user’s past interactions, making future conversations feel more natural, personalized, and intuitive.
Screenshots shared by WABetainfo offer a glimpse into the upcoming functionality, showing a new section labeled “Memory” within the Meta AI contact card on WhatsApp. This section will provide users with an overview of what Meta AI remembers about them. According to the description found in this section, “Meta AI automatically remembers certain parts of your chat to give you more relevant responses.” Furthermore, users will have the option to directly instruct Meta AI to retain specific information by simply asking it to “remember this.” However, users will also have full control over this data. They will be able to modify, update, or delete any information stored by the chatbot at their discretion, giving them full authority over what the AI retains.
Earlier in the year, Meta made another significant enhancement to Meta AI on WhatsApp by introducing support for voice messages. This new chat memory feature, once released, will take this personalized interaction to the next level. By allowing Meta AI to remember specific details and preferences, users can expect more relevant, meaningful, and personalized responses from the chatbot in future conversations. The development of this feature is part of Meta’s broader effort to make AI-driven interactions more engaging and user-friendly, enhancing the overall user experience on its platforms.
With this enhancement, WhatsApp users will benefit from conversations with an AI that remembers past interactions, allowing for smoother, more customized experiences, and a greater sense of familiarity when engaging with the Meta AI.
