The Vivo X Fold is the company’s first folding phone. With a big 8.03-inch folding screen on the interior for tablet-style use and a more traditional phone-sized screen on the outside — in this case, 6.53 inches — the X Fold follows in the footsteps of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series and its competitors.
Vivo’s folding display, like Samsung’s, has a layer of Schott’s Ultra Thin Glass (UTG), which could aid with durability. According to GSMArena, the phone’s hinge allows it to fold flat or be propped open at angles ranging from 60 to 120 degrees. According to report, Vivo claims that the phone’s screen can withstand 300,000 folds, which is a significant boost over Samsung’s estimate of 200,000 folds for its most current series of foldables.
Aside from its folding ability, the Vivo X Fold has top specs. It boasts a 4,600mAh battery and is powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU. It can be charged wirelessly at 50W or with a cable at 66W. Both of its panels contain ultrasonic fingerprint scanners and can support up to a 120Hz refresh rate.
According to report, the phone has four cameras on the back: a 50-megapixel main camera, a 48-megapixel ultrawide, a 12-megapixel 2x telephoto, and an 8-megapixel 5x periscope. Both the inner and exterior screens have hole-punch selfie cameras with a 16-megapixel resolution.
Vivo, along with Oppo, OnePlus, and Realme, is a part of the BBK supply chain empire. Last year, Oppo debuted the Find N, its first folding phone, which was an amazing product with slightly smaller screens than the Vivo X Fold. For the time being, both of these devices are only available in China.
The 12GB RAM, 256GB storage option of the Vivo X Fold will cost $8,999 (about $1,413). A 512GB storage model will be available for $9,999 (about $1,570).
