Walt Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery announced that a bundle of Disney+, Hulu, and Max streaming services will be available to U.S. customers starting this summer.
The new package will be available to customers on all three streaming platforms.
The media giant said it would offer plans with or without ads, but did not say how much it would charge customers.
The move comes as Disney and Warner Bros. face competition from rivals such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
“This new offering… will help drive incremental subscribers and much stronger retention,” Warner Bros Discovery executive JB Perrette said in a statement.
The two media companies said they would announce details of their plans in the coming weeks.
Companies like Disney and Warner Bros. are under pressure to attract more subscribers to their streaming services as viewers shift away from traditional television.
Both companies expect that the joint venture will be mutually complementary.
Disney+ is best known for family-friendly shows and movies, but Warner’s Max is home to his HBO and its adult content.
In recent years, streaming companies have partnered up to offer a combination of their services.
In February, Walt Disney Co.’s ESPN, Fox Corporation and Warner Bros. Discovery announced a new sports platform that will launch in the fall.
Together, the companies own a wide range of sports rights, including the FIFA World Cup, Formula One, NFL, NBA, and Major League Baseball.
Disney announced in its quarterly results Tuesday that Disney+ added more than 6 million subscribers worldwide, excluding India, between January and March. The streaming service currently has more than 117 million subscribers.
The increase is significant for a service considered critical to Disney’s future, although growth has slowed in recent months.
Disney also told investors that a password crackdown plan scheduled to begin in the summer should lead to an increase in subscriber numbers.
The streaming market is becoming increasingly crowded, with some customers dissatisfied with having to sign up for multiple services.
Bundling can solve this problem by simplifying payments and potentially reducing costs for users.
