Every year, “Dancing With the Stars” goes all out for Monster Night, and the Halloween episode this year was no different. On Tuesday night, every couple performed two dances: one for each of their routines and the other for the group marathon.
Many of the duos, including Alyson Hannigan and Sasha Farber, enjoyed dressing up for Halloween. Hannigan played up her “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” heritage. She dressed like a vampire and dedicated her paso doble to the fans who had supported her over the years, even though she couldn’t disclose the name of the show because of the SAG-AFTRA strike.
The judges were impressed with Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy’s modern act. However, Gomez sustained an injury at the end of the dance, so Chmerkovskiy carried her to get their results. She persevered through the agony, earning a score of 37 out of 40, and returned prepared for fight in the second round.
Conversely, Harry Jowsey found it difficult to deal with the judges’ low scores and the negative comments he had come across about himself on social media. He confided in girlfriend Rylee Arnold, saying, “It feels humiliating because I’m doing my best but it’s never good enough.” To try to lift their spirits, she called in her sister, former professional Lindsay Arnold, as reinforcement.
The couples danced in the ballroom at the same time during the Monster-thon. Gomez and Chmerkovskiy, the winning pair, won five bonus points, while the first-place duos only received one. Gomez and Chmerkovskiy led the leaderboard going into the elimination, while Jowsey and Arnold were at the bottom.
But in the end, Mauricio Umansky and Emma Slater were removed because the votes were more important than the judges’ eliminated.
