Novak Djokovic has a chance to win his 25th Grand Slam title at Wimbledon. On Friday, Djokovic beat 25th seed Lorenzo Musetti 6-4, 7-6, 6-4 to reach the Wimbledon final.
Djokovic is looking to win his record-high 25th Grand Slam title. In addition, the Serbian star is looking to win his eighth Wimbledon title after last winning at the All England Club in 2022.
Djokovic started well in Friday’s semifinals. The 37-year-old won four of the first six games in the first set before Musetti closed the gap to 5-4. But Djokovic fought back and held a break point at 6-4 to take the first set.
In the second set, Djokovic faced the most resistance from his opponent. Djokovic led 6-5 but Musetti won the next game to force a tiebreak. But Djokovic beat Musetti to easily reach seven points.
Djokovic won the first two games of the third set before Musetti fought back. Nevertheless, the 24-time Grand Slam champion won the last two games after Musetti tied the third set.
In the first match of the semifinals, third seed Carlos Alcaraz defeated fifth seed Daniil Medvedev 6:7, 6:3, 6:4, 6:4. Alcaraz is fresh off winning the 2024 French Open, defeating second seed Alexander Zverev in the final.
Alcaraz and Djokovic are acquaintances. Alcaraz beat Djokovic in five sets at Wimbledon in 2023 to win his second Grand Slam title. Djokovic leads the standings 3-2 after winning three sets at the 2023 Cincinnati Masters.
