Xiaomi has officially announced the release date for its Xiaomi 12 smartphone series. The Xiaomi 12 phones, which have been the subject of much conjecture, will be unveiled on December 28, the same day as the Mi 11 series was unveiled to the globe last year. In total, four phones are scheduled to be released as part of the series.
The event is expected to be focused on the Chinese market before the Xiaomi flagships make their way to worldwide markets in 2022, according to a teaser poster featuring Chinese sprinter Su Bingtian.
Xiaomi has confirmed the launch date for the Xiaomi 12 series in a new poster released on its Weibo account. We had previously announced the same launch date for the phones. It should be mentioned, however, that for the time being, the new Xiaomi flagship smartphones will only be available in China.
Reports to date, Xiaomi’s 12 series lineup might include up to four different smartphones. The Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, Xiaomi 12X, and Xiaomi 12 Ultra are among them, however it’s possible that not all of them will be presented during the December event (the Mi 11 Ultra, for example, wasn’t announced until late March this year). Xiaomi execs have been seen posting on their Weibo accounts using the other three phones, according to Gizmochina.
There aren’t many official details about the incoming phones, but Xiaomi has announced that Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 engine will power them. The Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro appear to have centrally oriented hole-punch cameras, according to marketing pictures published on Twitter by leaker @UniverseIce. According to leaked renders from @OnLeaks, other Xiaomi 12 features include a triple back camera with a 50-megapixel primary sensor.
In addition to these, Xiaomi is expected to launch the Xiaomi 12X, a more cheap variant in the series. The smartphone would, naturally, have to make some compromises in terms of performance, as it is expected to have a Snapdragon 870 chipset, similar to the one seen on its predecessor, the Mi 11X.
The vanilla model was recently discovered on the China Compulsory Certification (3C) website, showing several additional features that we now expect to see on it. A 5,000 mAh battery and 67W quick charging are among the features. It will also have charging capabilities for USB Type-C as well as wireless charging support.
While the battery on the Pro variant may remain the same, the Xiaomi 12 Pro is expected to enable 120W fast charging. Aside from that, the phone will most likely include LPDDR5 RAM and UFS3.1 storage. All of the phones are expected to come pre-installed with MIUI 12, which is based on Android 12.
Despite the fact that Xiaomi’s phones aren’t widely available in the United States, it is Europe’s second largest smartphone manufacturer and the world’s second largest Android manufacturer behind Samsung. Phones like the Xiaomi Mi 11 are driving demand since they provide equivalent features to Samsung’s flagships at significantly lower rates.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 was released worldwide in February of this year, so the international version of the Xiaomi 12 should be available soon after the December event.
