Zeekr (NYSE: ZK) will unveil its updated multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) Zeekr 009 in Hong Kong next week. This marks the first time the electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer will hold a product launch event outside mainland China.
The company announced today that the all-new Zeekr 009 will be launched globally in Hong Kong on July 19.
The six-seater version of the Zeekr 009 will be completely relaunched, Zeekr said, adding that it will also launch a new seven-seater model of the MPV.
Launched in mainland China on November 1, 2022, the Zeekr 009 is Zeekr’s second model after the Zeekr 001. Deliveries will begin in February 2023.
On January 15th this year, Zeekr launched the Zeekr 009 2024.
On April 19, Zeekr launched an all-new model, the Zeekr 009 Grand, in addition to the regular Zeekr 009 aimed at the upmarket market.
All regular Zeekr 009s currently on sale in mainland China are six-seaters with a starting price of RMB 500,000 ($68,960). The Zeekr 009 Grand is a four-seater with a starting price of RMB 789,000.
The next-generation Zeekr 009 will be available in both six-seater and seven-seater versions, and will feature a 140kWh battery and single-motor spec, giving it the longest range of any pure electric MPV, a Zeekr spokesperson told CnEVPost.
The two variants of the regular Zeekr 009 are equipped with 116kWh and 140kWh batteries with CLTC ranges of 702km and 822km respectively. The Zeekr 009 Grand is equipped with a 108 kWh battery with a CLTC range of 702km.
The all-new Zeekr 009 claims that the model with the 108 kWh battery that supports 5C fast charging can charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 11.5 minutes.
The brand-new Zeekr 009 comes with dual-chamber air suspension and CCD shock absorbers as standard, allowing the fastest version to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds.
This model is equipped with two Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chips with AI voice assistant AI EVA.
MPVs are a niche market in mainland China. Sales are only about one-tenth of SUVs and sedans.
In addition to the Zeekr 009, Zeekr also sells the Zeekr 001, Zeekr 007 and Zeekr X. Later this year, the Zeekr 7X SUV will be launched for the family market.
In the first half of this year, Zeekr sold 87,870 vehicles, up 106.11% year-on-year.
According to data compiled by CnEVPost, Zeekr 009 sold 2,907 units were sold in the first half of this year, accounting for 3.31% of Zeekr sales.
